Site Surveying

Site Surveying is an interesting subject to be learned. It includes a lot of calculations and field work which I think it’s quite fun. In this subject, we were lectured by a young and funny lecturer called Mr Wong. He is a well experienced in this field and he taught us very well. We have learned quite a few topics in this subject which are distance, levelling, total stations, traverses, airborne imagery and so on. I find it difficult at first because we’ve never learned these topics before when we were in foundation and degree in semester one. After the week of mid-term semester break, we had our site surveying test for the first time. The result was quite good and acceptable. After the test, our lecturer Mr Wong brought us out of the class to have our first field work. It was fun and we had learned a lot of things practically. We had earned our experience on how actually a surveyor work on site. Without his patience and teaching of the lecturer, we wouldn’t learn how to measure the angles, traversing, and levelling. We had get the chance to use the real equipment for surveying such as theodolite, auto level meter, plumb bob, levelling staff, measuring tape, and range pole. After doing the field works, we had to write a report on levelling and traversing. It was challenging when comes to paperwork for this subject. However, we had finished it on time and they were nicely done. In a conclusion, I had a great time spending time with our lecturer and friends during our field work. It was a great subject to be learned.
